Town of Sand Lake on Display Vehicle Parade

The Town of Sand Lake Bicentennial Planning Committee invites you and your vehicle(s) to participate in “THINGS THAT GO…” A Vehicle Parade on May 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM.

The “THINGS THAT GO…” parade is to celebrate the businesses and work that make our Town of Sand Lake unique and prosperous. We ask you to parade your vehicle because it is painted to identify your business, which is active in our community. Or we ask because your vehicle is designed to be task specific and is associated with a particular type of work. Our invitation is open to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Any interesting, old, unique or decorated with your business name/logo “THINGS THAT GO…” are welcome.

No elaborate preparations are required. We suggest that you make your vehicle(s) presentable, but basically come as you are. To keep in the spirit of the event, we encourage all participants and watchers to wear their routine work clothes and badges of their trade. We appreciate genuine articles of work attire and especially uniforms.

After the parade we encourage you to park your vehicle(s) at Butler Park for display and admiration. Please take full advantage of this opportunity to meet your community and promote your business. We hope to provide enough variety to keep the viewers interested until 2:00 PM. Beverages and food venders are being recruited.

The goals of the event are:
* To have fun.
* To raise awareness of upcoming Sand Lake Bicentennial in 2012.
* To honor, support and promote local businesses.
* To celebrate work, workers, and local employment.
* To express our Town of Sand Lake identity. What makes us, us? What we produce and consume helps define us.
* The event will be digitally captured. A copy will be placed into the bicentennial time capsule. Our future will have a glimpse of us. Will they see themselves in the mirror?

An entrance fee of $10 is requested to cover the costs of this event. To encourage your fuller participation, additional vehicles may parade at no additional cost. Any remaining funds will be rolled over to future Town of Sand Lake Bicentennial events.
